Which hot water system should I install?

The right system depends on three things: your fuel connection, household size, and energy priorities.

Gas continuous flow — best for households of 3+ people with an existing gas line. Rinnai Infinity and Rheem Metro are the most popular models we install. No tank required, so suits tight outdoor spaces. Running costs are roughly $400–$700/year for a family of four.

Electric storage — lowest upfront cost. Off-peak tariff connections (controlled load) can cut running costs by up to 40%. We size from 80L (1–2 people) to 315L (5+ people). Ideal where gas is unavailable.

Heat pump — up to 65% cheaper to run than a standard electric tank. Eligible for NSW government STC rebates deducted at point of sale. Requires 1m clearance around the unit and works best in well-ventilated spaces.

Solar — lowest ongoing cost where roof orientation allows. We pair solar collectors with an electric or gas booster. Best suited to homes with north-facing unshaded roof space of 4–6m².
